Senior women's basketball athlete Maddie Westergard (Fort Calhoun, Neb.) has been named to the Heart of America All-Conference First Team. Westergard is one of 10 athletes named to the team.

Westergard has been a key to Grand View this year, averaging 14.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per a game. She scored over 440 points and recorded 118 blocks and 323 rebounds for the Vikings.

In the NAIA, Westergard is currently holds five top ten rankings including the number one ranking in total blocks. Her other national rankings include number two in blocks per game (3.933), number five in defensive rebounds per game (8.067), number six in total rebounds (323) and number eight in total rebounds per game (10.767).

Westergard was also welcomed into the 1,000 point club this winter, totaling 1,262 points following the completion of the regular season schedules.

The Heart of America Conference Tournament starts Monday (Feb 27) and Grand View (14-16, 11-15) has earned the eight seed landing them on their home court against nine seed Mount Mercy (13-17, 10-16). Game time is set for 7 p.m. The two teams most recently played each other last Wednesday (Feb 22) with Grand View winning the contest 72-64.
