The 24th ranked Grand View Vikings dropped a heart breaker Saturday afternoon in Marshall, Missouri as they lost in overtime to the Missouri Valley College Vikings 103-101.

Missouri Valley started the game off hot from the field jumping out to an early lead and remained hot for most of the game. In the first half Missouri Valley shot 54% from the field including 6-13 from three point territory to take a 51-44 lead into halftime. Grand View was fairly efficient offensively themselves going 15-31 from the floor and 4-9 from distance but couldn't keep pace with Missouri Valley. Kerry Green (Missouri City, Texas) and Nate Washington (Houston, Texas) each had 11 points to lead Grand View.

Grand View hung around in the second half and got some key defensive stops and timely shooting down the stretch to force the game into overtime. Washington scored 13 more points in the second half to help the cause and Jjuan Hadnot (Beaumont, Texas) scored 11 of his 18 in the second half as well. Chase Mullen (Friendswood, Texas) drove the length of the floor and laid it in plus a foul with just six seconds remaining in overtime to tie the game. Unforunately, Mullen's free throw rimmed out and Missouri Valley missed a desperation three to send the game to overtime.

Overtime continued to be back and forth as the teams traded baskets. After a turnover by Grand View, an offensive rebound and put back with 2.8 by Missouri Valley left Grand View down two. After a timeout, Hadnot's pass to midcourt was picked off and Missouri Valley hung on for the upset.

Grand View finished with five players in double figures Washington and Green who finished with 24 and 23 points respectively. Hadnot added 18 while Mullen and Alex Welsch (Fontanelle, Iowa) had 11 and 0 points respectively. The 24th ranked Vikings are now 19-8 overall and 17-7 in the Heart of America Conference.

Grand View will host Mt. Mercy College on Wednesday at Sisam Arena in Des Moines. The Vikings are currently in a three way tie for 2nd place in the Heart with Mt. Mercy and Benedictine. Check back with for a complete recap and follow the Vikings on social media for in game updates.
