Des Moines, Iowa- Women's track athletes and Taylor Wells (SR/Des Moines, Iowa), Ronnoja Ayers (JR/Des Moines, Iowa) and men's volleyball Felipe Rosa (JR/Sao Paulo, Brazil) won Heart of America Conference players of the week.
Wells competed in two meets this week and had two victories in the weight throw. She won the Viking Throws Dual on Wednesday with a season's best mark of 15.59m which is currently the 3rd best mark in the Heart Conference this season. On Saturday at the Grinnell Invitational she was 1st out of 20 competitors with a mark of 15.48m and help guide GV to the team title.
Ayers won the 200m dash at the Grinnell Invitational in 26.21 seconds setting a new meet record and posting the second fastest time in the Heart Conference this season. She also led off the Vikings 1st place 4x400m relay which also posted the second fastest time in the conference this season running 4:07.97 and secured the team title for Grand View as they scored 112.5pts to top the 14 team field at the Grinnell Invitational.
Rosa helped GV take down three top ten ranked opponents including the returning NAIA National Champions. Rosa played against Clarke, Missouri Baptist, and Hope International recording a total of 6 kills, 146 assists, 14 digs, and 5 blocks.
