Grinnell, Iowa- Grand View track and field competed in the Grinnell Indoor Invitational this past Saturday. The women claimed the title for the second straight year and the men finished 5th with only 7.5 points separating the top 5 teams.
Senior Taylor Wells (SR/Des Moines, Iowa) was 1st out of 20 competitors with a mark of 15.48m and help guide GV to the team title. Wells also finished 5th place in the shot put with a mark of 11.40m.
Ronnoja Ayers (JR/Des Moines, Iowa) won the 200m dash with a time of 26.21 seconds, setting a new meet record and posting the second fastest time in the Heart Conference this season. She also led off the Vikings 1st place 4x400m relay (Katie Roberts (SR/Ankeny, Iowa), Kennedy King (JR/Davenport, Iowa), Allie Flaws (FR/Webster City, Iowa)) which posted the second fastest time in the conference this season running 4:07.97 and secured the team title for Grand View as they scored 112.5pts to top the other 14 teams.
Dimetrea Hamilton (FR/Des Moines, Iowa) also placed 2nd in the women's 60m hurdles, Roberts placed 2nd in the 400 meter dash, and King placed 2nd in the 600 meter run.
Clay Siefken (SO/Burlington, Iowa) placed 2nd out of 16 competitors in the men's weight throw with an NAIA "B" standard national qualifying mark of 16.32m. Rhett Gainey (SR/Monroe, Iowa) placed 2nd out of 27 competitors in the 800m run, Daniel Headley (SO/Melbourne, Florida) placed 2nd in the 200 meter dash and 2nd in long jump, Chance Tatman (JR/Spencer, Iowa) placed 3rd in the shot put, and Leo Stewart (FR/Alorton, Illinois) placed 3rd in high jump.
