The Grand View Men's and Women's Bowling teams competed last weekend at the Crusader Open in Dubuque, Iowa with the men taking second place and the women finishing in third.

The Viking men sat in sixth place with a team total of 5,748 points before going into the 16 game baker round on Sunday. The team was led by Nathan Maciejewski (SR/Dyer, Indiana) with 1,173, Sam Cantrell (SO/Citrus Heights, California) with 1,171, Luke Fisher (JR/Altoona, Iowa) with 1,171 and Dacoda Ewalt (SR/Marshalltown, Iowa) (JR/Ankeny, Iowa) 1,165.

On Sunday, the men bowled a 3,218 in the 16 game baker round and closed the distance between them and the first place team by 98 pins. The Vikings advanced to bracket play and lost to Midland in the best of three baker games. Overall, the men averaged a two-day score of 195, finishing second.

The Vikings women sat in sixth place with a team total of 5,748 before the 16 game baker round on Sunday. The team was led by Rebecca Broerman (JR/Mason City, Iowa) with 1,112 points, Amanda Duplan (SO/Citrus Heights, California) with 1,103 points, Hannah Munson (JR/Cottage Grove, Minnesota) with 1,072 points and Makayla Ericksen (SO/Burnsville, Minnesota) with 1,069.

On Sunday the Viking women bowled against Midland, beating them in a best of three and then went up against Clarke and lost. The Vikings overall team total was 8,334 with team average of 182, good enough to place second for the tournament.

The Vikings next tournament will be the Bronco Blast in Hastings, New England.
