WACO, TEXAS —Grand View defensive back Robert Lewis has been named to the first team of the 2016 AFCA NAIA Coaches' All-America Team announced today by the American Football Coaches Association. Grand View has had at least one player named to the AFCA Coaches' All-America Team for 8 straight seasons, from 2009 to present, the second longest streak by any team in NAIA.

Lewis was named first team All-Conference earlier this season, along with Heart Defensive Player of the Year. He earned second team All-Conference after the 2015 season. Lewis finished the 2016 season with 38 total tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions and 7 pass break-ups.

The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five of its divisions. Beginning this year, the AFCA has started selecting a first and second team. What makes these teams so special is that they are the only ones chosen exclusively by the men who know the players the best — the coaches themselves.
