Des Moines, Iowa- The Grand View Dance Team competed in the 2017 Iowa State Dance Team Association State Championships last week. The Vikings competed in three divisions this past week; College NAIA Pom, College NAIA Hip Hop and College NAIA Jazz.  The Vikings tied with Morningside for the State Championship title in Hip Hop , defending their title from last year. They also finished 2nd place in Pom and 3rd in Jazz. In order to place, GV had to receive a division one rating, with an average score of 60 points between the judges. Head Coach Stacie Horton was honored with "Lifetime Achievement Coach Award" at the Championships.

Head Coach Stacie Horton could not be more proud of her team, "I am honored to coach a dance team full of talent, heart, faith and fun! The team improved one placing from last year in both Pom and Jazz and repeated their first place finish in Hip Hop.  More importantly they spent the day supporting and loving each other. And yes...my world is filled with rainbows and unicorns because that is what I choose!"
