Competitive Dance - Mon, Nov. 28, 2016

Des Moines, Iowa- The Grand View Dance Team will be working at and competing in one of the largest dance competitions in the nation this Friday and Saturday. Iowa State Dance Team Association will host the 2017 high school and college state dance championships December 1 and 2 in downtown Des Moines at Wells Fargo Arena and Hy Vee Hall.

The two-day competition is host to 26 college teams, 270 high school teams, approximately 5000 dancers and 600 performances.  The Grand View Dance Team works the two day event as a team fundraiser selling programs an sweeping floors in between performances.  "Working the competition is a great recruiting tool for our program as it connects our GVDT dancers to thousands of high school dancers and their parents, allowing them the opportunity to share their experiences being a student athlete at Grand View University,"  says Head Coach Stacie Horton.

GVDT will compete in three divisions, College NAIA Pom, College NAIA Hip Hop and College NAIA Jazz.  "It's tough competition but the ultimate goal for us going in is to win all three divisions!  We're looking to defend our state hip hop title from last year and improve upon our 3rd place pom and 4th place jazz finish last year.  We've definitely got the talent to do it!  We just have to control the jitters and be confident in our preparation."

Grand View Performance Times
