The men's and women's cross country teams travelled to Dubuque, Iowa Friday afternoon to participate in the Loras Invite.

The men's team finished fifth out of nine teams with senior Rhett Gainey (Monroe, Iowa) coming in 16th out of 96 finishers. Gainey finished with a time of 27:43 in the 8k race. Sophomore Taylor Murray (Clinton, Iowa) ran a personal record.

The women finished fourth out of seven teams and had three runners finish in the top 25. Freshman Maren Jeppson (Mount Vernon, Iowa) led the Vikings with a sixth place finish and a personal best time of 24:24. Junior Michelle Thayer (Runnells, Iowa) and senior Hayley Leonard (Maxwell, Iowa) finished 16th and 25th, respectively and each had season best times. Leonard finished at 25:35 and Leonard had a time of 25:57.  Jeppson's time is the eighth fastest time in Grand View history in a 6k and the third fastest time posted by a freshman.

The Vikings will next compete next Saturday (Oct 22) at the Seminole Valley Stampede in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The race will begin at 11 a.m. and be held at Seminole Valley Park.
