Grand View announced today the hiring of Adam Sanchez as the assistant men's basketball coach and assistant sports information director.

Sanchez joins the Viking Athletic Department from Drake University. He will assist in the daily operations of the men's basketball program, as well as on floor coaching, recruiting, and coaching of the perimeter players.

Sanchez spent three years at Drake University serving as a Graduate Assistant for the men's basketball program. At Drake, Sanchez was an integral part of the daily operations of the basketball program. He assisted with all aspects of the Drake summer basketball camps, created opponent's scouting reports and break down tapes, assisted in the development of the recruiting database, and served as the basketball program's academic liaison. While as the basketball program's academic liaison, six players were selected to the All-Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete team. The Bulldogs finished 60-31 in his three seasons on staff and won the Missouri Valley Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships in the 2007-08 season.

Prior to Drake University, Sanchez spent one year at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. He served as the basketball program's head junior varsity coach, while also assisting with all aspects of the varsity program. Under current head coach Dick Peth, Sanchez assisted with all areas of recruiting, game and practice preparation, and the organization of the program's summer camps. While at Wartburg, the Knights finished 19-6 and captured the Iowa Conference Regular Season title during the 2005-06 season.

Before coaching at Wartburg College, Sanchez was a four year letter winner for the Knights. As a team captain in his senior season, the Knights won the 2005 Iowa Conference Regular Season Championship. In his four year stint at Wartburg College, he was a member of four consecutive twenty win seasons.

Sanchez is a 2001 graduate of Hudson High School in Hudson, Iowa. He earned his B.A. in Elementary Education from Wartburg College and a M.A. in Educational Leadership from Drake University. Adam and his wife Abby reside in West Des Moines with their daughter Taylor.
