The Grand View men's and women's cross country teams participated in the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota over the weekend.

The women finished 35th out of 40 teams in a loaded NCAA Division II race that saw 392 total finishers. Leading the Vikings in the wet, muddy course was freshman Maren Jeppson (Mount Vernon) in 166th place with a time of 26:05.

 In addition, freshman Michaela Barretta (Indianola, Iowa) and Sarah McMurtry (Strawberry Point, Iowa) both ran personal best times for the 6k course.

The men's team was led by senior Rhett Gainey (Monroe, Iowa) who finished in 179th place (28:58) in the talented field of 453 finishers. Senior Chris DeJoode (Des Moines, Iowa) improved his personal best by 44 seconds while freshmen Colton Galusha (Clinton, Iowa) and Ryan Moshinsky (Batavia, Iowa) also posted personal bests for the 8k course.

The Vikings will next compete on October 8 in the Fighting Bee Invite hosted by St. Ambrose University. Race time is 10 a.m. at Crow Creek Park in Davenport, Iowa.
