Maria Mantilla shot an 80 to win the Simpson Fall Invitational this past Wednesday.

Maria Mantilla (Bogota, Colombia) took the individual championship Wednesday at the Simpson Fall Invitational held at Indianola Country Club and led the Grand View Vikings women's golf team to a third place finish as a team.

The Vikings shot 356 as a group which was 20 strokes behind winner William Penn who finished with a 336. Host Simpson College shot a 347 as a team and finished second.

Mantilla shot 40 on the front nine and 40 on the back nine for a nine over par 80 to win the tournament which was two strokes ahead of four 2nd place finishers who all shot 82. One of those was Kimberly Nelson (Malaysia), who put together two rounds of 41 to post her 82.

Emily Wagner (Casey, Iowa) shot a front nine 43 and back nine 47 to finish with a 90. Olivia Erpelding (Wesley, Iowa) and Kenzie Nossaman (Pella, Iowa) shot 104 and 110 respectively to round out the group.

The women are back on the course this Saturday as they take part in the Graceland Invitational in Lamoni, Iowa. Check back with for complete coverage and follow the Vikings on social media for the most up to date information.
