Des Moines, Iowa – Grand View University Athletic Director Troy Plummer announced today that Melody Felton has been hired as the Head Bowling Coach and Keith Felton the Associate Head Coach for the nationally-ranked men's and women's Viking bowling teams.

"I am very happy that Mel and Keith have agreed to take over the Men and Women's Bowling programs. Their passion for the sport and commitment to our athletes will help us continue to build upon the success we have experienced in recent years."

Melody has been involved with the Grand View Bowling program as the assistant coach for both men's and women's for the past six years. She helped guide the men's team to the highest season finish ever for the program of fourth overall last year at the national tournament and women's in the 2014-2015 season finishing third.

"It's an honor to be selected as head coach of the Grand View Men's and Women's bowling teams. After six years as the assistant coach helping to develop and build this successful program, I look forward to continued success in the future," said Melody.

Melody has an extensive bowling background.  She began to compete in sanctioned leagues at the age of six. She holds a series high of 827 and seven career 300 games. Melody holds several titles including a Nationals Doubles, PWBA Regional, and 12 Iowa State titles. Melody was also the US Open/BPAA Top Amateur in the Nation Championship in 1990.

She served as a national member of the Professional Women's Bowling Association from 1993-2003. In 2014, Melody was listed as one of the Top 100 Coaches in the Nation. Her accomplishments include Conference Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2010, two Boys' State Championships along with attending several clinics.  

Joining Melody is her husband of 26 years, Keith Felton, who has also served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Viking program. Keith has taken part in several clinics along with holding his Bronze Level coaching accreditation. Keith has also been highly involved in bowling, accomplishing thirty-five 300 games, four 800 series and several state and city titles. As a team, the Feltons have been inducted into five different Hall of Fames.

"I am excited to be selected as associate head coach of Grand View Men's and Women's bowling teams and am looking forward to being a part of a very successful program. I also look forward to assisting the athletes with their chosen career path as well as their bowling," said Keith. 

Melody and Keith are the owner's of K.O.'s Pro Shop located in Des Moines. They have two sons, Jamie and Joel Felton. They currently reside in Colfax, Iowa.
