The Viking track & field teams set three school records at the NAIA Track & Field Championships held over the weekend in Johnson City, Tennessee.
For the men, junior Titus Bland (Baytown, Tex.) finished 17th and set a school record in the 60m Dash (6.99).
Other notable performances for Grand View men were by senior Jordan Adams (Lamont, Iowa) and freshman Travis Barnes (Deer Park, Texas) . Adams placed 13th in the weight throw (16.49m) and Barnes placed 16th in the High Jump (1.95).
On the women's side, freshman Obsie Birru (Des Moines, Iowa) ran a school record time in the 3,000m (10:12.12). Birru ended up in 9th place in the 3,000m finals (10:17.33). Sophomore Tasha Moore (Omaha, Neb.) ran a school record time and finished 22nd in the 60m Hurdles (9.36). Courtney Casper (West Branch, Iowa) ran a personal best and placed 24th also in the 60m Hurdles (9.47).
The Vikings open their Outdoor season on Saturday, March 21, at the Central Methodist Open in Fayette, Missouri. Events begin at 10 a.m.
