The #2 Grand View football team is on its way to the NAIA National Championship game after a 35-0 semifinal win over #5 Morningside this afternoon at Williams Stadium. In the program's sixth year of existence, the Vikings are 13-0 on the season.

GVU got things going early as Derek Fulton (Bettendorf, Iowa) found Brady Roland (Carlisle, Iowa) for a 22-yard score with 11:54 left in the first quarter to make it 7-0.

Charles Badgett (St. Louis, Mo.) made it 14-0 with a 33-yard run in the second quarter. The drive was extended on a third down when Derek Fulton found Roland down the right sideline in double coverage.

Roland and Fulton were connected again later in the second quarter on a 66-yard touchdown pass to make it 21-0. Mike Perez (Dike, Iowa) closed out the second half with a 2-yard run to make it 28-0.

Fulton completed 18-of-29 passes for 312 yards and two touchdowns. Roland caught seven passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

The Vikings offense went into conservation mode as they ran the ball for the majority of the second half. Quarterback Dorian Ballentine (Des Moines, Iowa) ran eight times for 91 yards and Badgett rushed seven times for 58 yards.

Grand View's defense played with extreme intensity from start-to-finish and shut out Morningside's top-ranked offense that has scored in 88 straight games and had scored 30 points in 60 of the last 79 games.

Jason Gladfelder (Ozark, Mo.) recorded 10.5 tackles, 3.5 sacks and returned an interception for a touchdown.

Following the game, Roland (Offensive) and Gladfelder (Defensive) were voted by the media as the NAIA Players of the Game.

"That was as good of football game and as well-played as any team I have ever, ever coached in a moment like this," head coach Mike Woodley told his team in the huddle after the game.

The Vikings will match up against Cumberlands (Ky.) (13-0) for the NAIA Championship game on December 21 at Barron Stadium in Rome, Georgia. Cumberlands defeated #3 Carroll (Mont.) 34-27 in overtime of the other semifinal game played today. Kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m. EST (local) time. The game will be streamed live on
