The Viking men's track & field team claimed the first-ever MCC Indoor Track & Field championship today in Sterling, Illinois.
Grand View won six of the eighteen events held and finished with a team score of 225. St. Ambrose finished in second place with a score of 189, Mount Mercy was third (108), William Penn was fourth (69), Ashford fifth (51), and Clarke sixth (28).
Senior Jordan Adams (Lamont, Iowa) was voted as the MCC Men's Field Athlete of the Year. Adams took first place in the Shot Put (14.36m) and the Weight Throw (17.10m).
Senior Steven Hughes (Grimes, Iowa) took first place in both the Long Jump (6.61m) and the High Jump (1.98m). Junior Titus Bland (Baytown, Texas) won the 55m Dash (6.53) and freshman Jarvis Henderson (Houston, Texas) was first in the 200m Dash (22.62).
Viking head coach Jerry Monner was selected by his peers as the MCC Men's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year.
