Grand View senior Steven Hughes (Grimes, Iowa) has been selected as the Midwest Collegiate Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week announced today.

Hughes finished 2nd out of 16 competitors in the heptathlon with a conference-leading score of 4,468pts; also a provisionally qualifying mark and 10th ranked performance in the NAIA. Hughes also won the high jump competition during the heptathlon with a NAIA "B" standard national qualifying mark of 1.98m at the Graceland Valentine's Multi/Mini-Open.

The Vikings next compete at the MCC Indoor Championships this Saturday, Feb. 21, in Sterling, Illinois. The meet begins at 10 a.m.
