The 2012 Midwest Collegiate Conference women's soccer preseason rating has been announced with St. Ambrose narrowly holding off Grand View for the headlining spot.
The Queen Bees (13-7 last year) enter this fall as the defending tournament champions and tri-regular season champions at 7-1 (shared with Grand View and Ashford). St. Ambrose was ousted in the Opening Round of the NAIA National Championships by #4 overall seed Martin Methodist.
A 2-1 loss to St. Ambrose in the tourney finals was likely all that kept Grand View from being in the #1 position. The Vikings were 14-6 in 2011 and earned the top seed for the tournament.
Clarke, Mount Mercy, Viterbo, William Penn, and AIB conclude the rating.
Viterbo will be the first team to hit the pitch this fall by visiting Midland Saturday. The MCC season begins September 22 with AIB traveling to Viterbo and Mount Mercy hitting the road to play William Penn.
