The Vikings closed in on the team title at the NAIA Wrestling Championships today in Des Moines. With 141.5 points, Grand View holds a 23-point lead over second-place Southern Oregon heading into the final day. Campbellsville sits in third with 100.5 points, Lindsey Wilson is fourth with 84.5, and Oklahoma City fifth with  75.

The Vikings advanced four wrestlers to the finals on Saturday night –  Omi Acosta (133), Brad Lower (165), Derek Nightser (197) and Eric Thompson (285) will wrestle for championships Saturday night.
 

Acosta won a 9-5 decision top-ranked Tim Thurston of Campbellsville at 133 pounds to advance today. Acosta will face Lindsey Wilson's Keith Klink in the finals.

Lower defeated Pat Nord of Jamestown 9-6 to reach the finals at 165 pounds. Lower will face returning All-American Kevin Hardy of Oklahoma City.

 Nightser won in dramatic fashion over top-ranked Jamelle Jones of Campbellsville, scoring a go-ahead takedown with seven seconds remaining in the match. Nightser will face Midland's Joshua Marsh in the finals at 197.

Eric Thompson pinned Oklahoma City's Mike Brown in just over a minute to reach the finals at heavyweight. Thompson will face second-ranked Brandon Gebhardt.

Gustavo Martinez (141), TJ Moen (149), Chad Lowman (157), and Ty Knowler (174) will wrestle tomorrow morning in consolation.
