Pete Westerkamp broke his own school record in the 60m hurdles

Viking senior Pete Westerkamp (Clarinda, Iowa) capped off his collegiate indoor track & field career at the NAIA National Championships in Geneva, Ohio, this afternoon by breaking his own school record in the 60m hurdle prelims running 8.33 seconds, fast enough to qualify him for the semifinal round.  In his semifinal heat he ran 8.36 seconds for a 14th place finish overall.

Tyler Wells (Des Moines, Iowa) and Cy Williams (Clarinda, Iowa) placed 12th and 14th today in the men's weight throw competition.  Wells posted a mark of 17.22m with Williams right behind him with a toss of 17.20m.

 

Wells will be competing tomorrow afternoon in the men's shot put competition beginning at 1:00pm.
