Viking senior Lauryn Camp (Preston, Iowa) earned her third consecutive All-American honor in the weight throw placing second at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships in Geneva, Ohio this evening. She hit a personal best mark of 17.82m on her second throw in finals and broke her own school record. Sophomore teammate Colleen Frank (Eldora, Iowa) also earned All-American honors in the weight throw with a personal best mark of 16.47m placing her 8th overall.
Grand View senior Kara Keller (Middletown, Iowa) set a new GV school record with a personal best time of 2:15.07 in the 800m prelims. Her mark was the fifth fastest preliminary time and advances her to tomorrow's final. Viking hurdler Laurel Murphy (Des Moines, Iowa) advanced through to the semifinals in the 60m hurdles where she placed 14thoverall. Freshman Dionna Reed (Rock Island, Ill.) also competed in the 60m hurdles placing 22nd.
After day two of the championships, the Grand View women sit in seventh place in the team standings.
The Vikings will be competing in three event finals tomorrow as Obsie Birru (Des Moines, Iowa) competes in the Mile at 12:25pm and the 5,000m run at 2:45pm. Kara Keller will run the 800m final at 1:30pm.
