In its first-ever home dual meet, the Grand View University wrestling team dominated No. 12 Northwestern 30-12.

Northwestern's Cole Spree opened up the match with a pin over Drew Love at 197. The Viking's got on the board at 285 when Jeff Cain earned a 9-6 decision over Nic Leither.

Travis Evans  (125), Nick Coffman (133), and Jon Henslee (141) won the next three matches for Grand View by forfeit.

At 149, No. 7 Matt Burns defeated No. 3 Levi Price 8-1. At 157, Josh Stansbery defeated Clay Wakefield 7-5. At 165, Ty Knowler defeated Claudel Noel 13-8. At 174, Northwestern's Tom Eaton defeated Bryce Skaggs 11-4. At 184, Northwestern's Martin Beeler defeated J.P. Williams 6-1.


Head coach Nick Mitchell was pleased with the team's performance.

"I was glad to see us win some close matches. In our last dual, we lost four matches by two points or less. We can definitely build from this win; our guys who lost had the opportunity to win, and the guys who won could have won by more."

The Vikings travel to Indianola for the Simpson Invitational Saturday. The meet begins at 9 a.m.
