
The No. 22 Grand View volleyball team (39-7) cruised past Olivet Nazarene (Ill. ) in the opening round of the NAIA Volleyball Championship played today in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Twenty-four teams played at twelve host sites throughout the country today; twelve advance to the final site.
Making their first national tournament appearance, the Vikings swept the Tigers in three sets (25-12, 25-15, 25-18) to advance to the NAIA Championship final site at the Tyson Events Center held in Sioux City November 29-December 3.
Grand View was a force at the net, hitting .333 as a team for the match. Charmin Anderson led GV, hitting .556 with 11 kills. Devon Jensen put away 15 balls; Erin Smith added 10 kills.
Grand View collected 59 digs as a team, led defensively by Jensen's 19 digs. Iwa Belisario and Amber Boevers collected 13 digs apiece. BOXSCORE
"What a great win today! We were very well prepared and focused which showed in the match result. It was a true team win as we got great performances from everyone on the court and the energy was fantastic. This has been such a great experience so far and everyone is very much looking forward to getting ready for our trip to Sioux City," said Head Coach Tina Carter.
